We are in the Bay of Plenty for our second to last Smokefreerockquest Regional Final- let’s check out what the region has to offer!
The last few years have proven successful for our entrants from the Bay of Plenty with a national winner and a national solo/duo winner coming out of the region. In 2014 we discovered Georgia Lines here, her songwriting prowess took her all the way to the national finals and the judges named her our national solo/duo winner. Georgia used her Smokefreerockquest exposure to launch her onto the music scene and has since been gaining popularity and gigging with the likes of Anika Moa and Hollie Smith.
In 2015 Bay of Plenty band Joes Van took out the national title after coming second the year before. They describe their unique sound as “Alternative surf, a genre we like to go by – and like to say we created.” The boys are making waves in the NZ music scene and are an inspiration for many of the hopeful bands competing this year!
